Partial Shipments

Definition

Partial shipments occur when a shipment is divided into multiple smaller shipments for transportation. It may be necessary when the entire shipment cannot be accommodated by a single carrier or mode of transport. Each partial shipment is treated as a separate entity and may have its own documentation, such as a separate bill of lading or transport contract.
