Definition
a charterer refers to an individual or entity that enters into a charter party agreement with the owner of a vessel for the exclusive use or lease of the ship. The charterer assumes responsibility for the vessel during the agreed-upon period and pays a charter hire fee to the shipowner. The charterer is typically responsible for arranging the cargo, coordinating loading and unloading operations, and ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of goods.
