The Vizion Port Index Shows Month-to-Month Volatility in April

The Vizion Port Index is a monthly measurement of how efficiently major ports in the United States are performing. The Port Index’s data for April shows month-to-month volatility at some of the most important gateways in the country, with some ports significantly improving upon their March numbers — while others grew significantly less efficient.

Vizion’s Port Index provides details on the how long it takes (in days) for:

  • Vessels to transition from arrival to berth.
  • Vessels to remain at mooring.
  • Containers to transition from discharge to gate out.

The total of these three metrics indicates the overall efficiency of any given port. For comparison, the Vizion Port Index includes month-to-month changes for each port as well as the U.S. average for the month in question.

You can add Vizion port performance data to your TMS, ERP or other software systems. To learn more about adding port performance data to your existing systems, get in touch with one of our ocean freight experts.
